Virtual QIIME 2 workshop – Since the onset of the pandemic, I have helped with several virtual QIIME 2 workshops as an instructor and the slides and lectures from these workshops are available for free online. These are a comprehensive series of videos that covers the entirety of microbiome analysis with QIIME 2 from introduction to basic concepts to advanced data analysis. You can find these videos on the official QIIME 2 youtube channel here.

Dec, 2021 – These are the slides from a virtual presentation I gave for an invited talk during the 2021 International Conference On Infectious Diseases And Nanomedicine (ICIDN) that discusses common pitfalls in microbiome studies.

March 30, 2021 – These are the slides from a multi-day workshop hosted by Center for Microbiome Innovation at UCSD focused on compositional data analysis (CoDa) in microbiome studies. I present the introduction section here that introduces the concepts of CoDa in microbiome studies.

Nov 1st, 2019 – These are the slides from my half-day workshop at UBC Okanagan  regarding bias in microbiome studies.

April, 2019 – I was recently invited to speak at Experimental Biology 2019 (Orlando, FL) about Bioinformatics and data analyses of microbiome data. In my presentation, I promised to make my slides available to a full house, so here they are!

Aug, 2018 – I gave a 2-day workshop on all things Short-Read Sequencing, covering everything from important considerations regarding experiment design, sequencing, bioinformatics, data analyses, and more. The workshop used Qiime2 as its main bioinformatics platform and thus -with permission- I used some slides from previous official Qiime2 workshops. I’ve linked those slides throughout but if I’ve missed something please let me know! Note that a lot has changed in the field since 2018, with regards to best practices as well as my own recommendations. So please take these slides with a grain of salt.
